Holy Spirit
Work of the Holy Spirit Zechariah 4 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. This is how any true work of God is done. It is done by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is not done by the might and power of men but by the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12 28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. The Holy Spirit has power over evil and the works of the devil. John 15 26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: The Holy Spirit is a comforter, one who speaks truth and one who testifies or tells of Jesus Christ. He bears witness to us of the reality of Jesus Christ and that this same Jesus is the true Messiah and the very Son of God who came to save us from our sins. John 16 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, bring righteousness, and judgment. When He enters our own lives He corrects, reproves, instructs and comforts. He draws a sinner to repentance and comforts a weary believer in His walk in this life. Romans 8 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Those who have the Holy Spirit within them will be raised from the dead at the resurrection because the Holy Spirit is the power by which the dead are raised. Romans 8 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. The Holy Spirit dwelling in believers is the power that helps us in our weaknesses, troubles and our prayers when we are in the state of weakness or troubles. He enables us to pray in the spirit and make intercession when we do not know how to pray or what to say. 2 Corinthians 3 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. The word of God exposes sin, the Holy Spirit convicts of sin. When we repent and turn to God by accepting our sacrifice for sin, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit makes us alive spiritually. We become alive, free from sin and have the gift of eternal life within us. This happens now within our spirit and later it will resurrect our natural bodies unto eternal life. 1 Peter 3 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The bible was written by the power of the Holy Spirit as He moved upon men to write for us to read and understand. We know by the same witness of the same Holy Spirit that the word is truth. The bible is a book that is different from any other. If our hearts are truly open and seeking God, we will know that it is a special book written by God and it is truth. Revelation 22 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. The Holy Spirit draws and bids us to come to Christ. [ Home || Lighthouse Articles| Contents ] Comments or questions: webmaster@oldpathslighthouse.com copyright 2006 Oldpaths Lighthouse
