Notes on Exodus 7

Exo 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

After the coming of Jesus Christ no one can repeat this type of setup without being totally out of the will of God. This was a one time only thing until Jesus. God sent prophets to Israel but not exactly like Moses and Aaron.

Many have tried to imitate Moses but there has been no prophet like him until Jesus came. After Jesus the way to God is by Jesus and Him alone.

In the last days there is spoken of one who is the beast and the false prophet who lifts up this beast and causes all to worship him and take his image as a mark. We must not be fooled by this man of sin who will attempt to deceive the whole world.
As long as our foundation is Jesus Christ and we are grounded in the word of God, we will not be deceived. Moses gladly saw the day of Jesus and was glad. Moses wrote of Him who was to come in Deuteronomy chapter 18.

Exo 7:2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.
Exo 7:3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
Exo 7:4 But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
Exo 7:5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

God was going to bring judgment upon Egypt because of all the years of oppression against the children of Israel. They thought they were getting away with all that slavery and cruelty but they were not getting by with it. God was getting ready to bring judgment because of all their idols and worship of false gods to deceive the innocent. They didn't get by with anything.

Exo 7:6 And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they.
Exo 7:7 And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spoke unto Pharaoh.

Who says God only uses the young and energetic?
Moses was 80 years old before he began his greatest ministry. Aaron was 83.

Exo 7:8 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
Exo 7:9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Show a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.
Exo 7:10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Exo 7:11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

The devil has power also and can do miracles but his power is limited and not for the purpose of good.  Jesus warns us that in the latter days there will be signs and wonders to deceive.  We must keep our spiritual eyes open by studying the word and praying fervently striving to love one another.  The reason I stress this is because the devil will try to cause us to use these scriptures to false accuse either the wrong people or those who make a few errors without being actual false prophets.  We must judge the doctrine and try not to judge the person who may just be making mistakes.

Exo 7:12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.
Exo 7:13 And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
Exo 7:14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.
Exo 7:15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.
Exo 7:16 And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.
Exo 7:17 Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
Exo 7:18 And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink of the water of the river.
Exo 7:19 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
Exo 7:20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
Exo 7:21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
Exo 7:22 And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said.

Exo 7:23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.
Exo 7:24 And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.
Exo 7:25 And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river.

We have always had the false and the true. Sometimes they resemble each other. Sometimes people encounter the false signs and wonders and reject the real along with the false.

Yet we need the real power of God to present the gospel of Jesus Christ and show the unbelieving world that Jesus is the Christ that has come to save their very souls.

The word of God must go forth from us with power. The Holy Spirit is given as power for service but the Holy Spirit does not exalt a man, a ministry or anything except the foundation of Jesus Christ. There must never be any other foundation. Upon the rock of Jesus Christ must everything be built. We must be careful what we build upon that foundation. The works of the flesh will be purged with fire. Only that which is true and pure will remain.

That is how we judge what is real and what is true. Not everything that goes forth in the name of Jesus Christ is true.

1. Does it cause souls to be truly born again by God's spirit?
2. Does it cause people to love one another?
3. Does it cause us to love our enemies?
4. Does it teach a false doctrine contrary to the word?
5. Does if give glory to Jesus or to a man (women)
6. Does it teach salvation through Jesus alone or does it add to the gospel by making a church or a ministry a requirement for salvation?
7. Do the miracles bring people to Jesus or someone or something else?
